While I was born and lived some of my early childhood in Chicago, Illinois, and Marietta, Georgia, I truly consider California my home. My parents raised me in San Ramon, California, where I attended middle and high school. After my primary schooling in the east bay, I attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. There I received my BA in Liberal Studies as well as my teaching credential. It was just one week after completing my work for my teaching credential that I began my first teaching job in Tracy, California. After teaching for several years, I decided to go back to school and earn my master's degree. In 2008, I graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading.
This is year I am starting my 24th year working at Poet-Christian. When I first began teaching, I taught a 3rd/4th grade multiage class. While I have primarily taught 3rd and 4th grade at Poet, I have been blessed to teach numerous grade levels through a variety of summer school experiences. I feel that teaching 3rd grade is a perfect fit for me-- I find the curriculum interesting, and I absolutely love working with kids this age!
Even though I truly love my job and working with kids each and every day, I do try to maintain a balance between my work life and my home life. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with friends and family-- which includes our sweet rescue dog, Sassy. In addition to spending time with friends and family, in my spare time I love to read, exercise, cook, watch movies, and go shopping. In the future, I hope to travel more and develop my hobbies of photography and mountain bike riding.
